from the GPUS EcoAction Committee:
The EcoAction Committee (EAC) of the Green Party of the United States commends the 86 Evangelical Christian leaders who have come together to support action to counter global warming. The EAC expresses solidarity with the view that global warming afflicts the weakest first. “Compassion dictates that we do not harm our neighbor through our actions.” said Chris Dudley, EcoAction Committee member, “And, when we know, as we do in the case of global warming, that our actions harm our neighbors, we must do what is in our power to change.”
“Solutions to this problem will depend upon mutual trust and cooperation between diverse groups and religions.” said Lorna Salzman, also a Committee member. The EcoAction Committee encourages the Evangelical leaders to continue to be a light to their communities: leading in conservation and making renewable energy available to the poor. The Committee looks forward to opportunities to work together with interested groups on this issue.
The EcoAction Committee was formed to promote ecological wisdom and environmental justice; it serves the Green Party of the United States, its state affiliates and candidates for office. The Green Party of the United States is founded on the principles of Grassroots Democracy, Ecological Wisdom, Non-Violence, and Social and Economic Justice.
