Vote Peace, Vote Green Party
Albany – On May 20, 2006, the State Committee of the Green Party of New York State (GPNYS) nominated author/actor Malachy McCourt for the Green Party Governor candidate.
McCourt’s campaign calls for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. "Every dollar we send to Washington supports this war, so we must find ways to not send money to Washington", said McCourt. "Our State Legislature must condemn this war. And we must condemn war as a way of solving problems." For more information, go to www.m4gov.com
The Iraq War has had too high a cost to Iraqis, to Americans, and specifically to New Yorkers. It has cost the lives of 114 New Yorkers and nearly $24 Billion of New Yorkers’ taxes so far. The Green Party has continually opposed entry into the Iraq war and has consistently called for the immediate return of our troops, in stark contrast to the Democratic and Republican parties. The Green Party is America’s Peace Party.
Malachy’s Peace Campaign has been mirrored by Green Party campaigns nationwide because we are the only national party committed to ending war. The Green Party has always been part of the national peace movement. GPNYS ran War Resisters League Co-Secretary David McReynolds for US Senate. UFPJ Steering Committee member George Martin is an active Green and former Wisconsin Green Party Co-Chair. The South Carolina Green Party ran Not in Our Name Steering Committee member Efia Nwangaza for US Senate. It’s time for the rank and file of America’s Peace Movement to come home to America’s Peace Party. Today we march, tomorrow we vote Green Party.
