NEW YORKERS AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY
LONG ISLAND CHAPTER
NOT A SINGLE LONG ISLAND SENATOR VOTED TO OPPOSE THE DEATH PENALTY. Yesterday, the New York State Senate voted 37 to 23 to uphold two bills to reinstate the death penalty in New York: the first bill, S. 6771, upheld the death penalty for those who kill law enforcement officers. The second, S2727, was a general reinstatement bill.
All of our senators voted FOR these bills. In spite of the evidence of innocent, ineffective deterrance, racism, classism, the execution of the mentally ill and excessive cost. In spite of YOUR opposition.
CONCERNED? Let them know you followed their vote: and are concerned at their ignoring your concerns about the death penalty: Go to the Citizen Action Toolkit, scroll down to "elected officials."

THANKFULLY, THE ASSEMBLY CODES COMMITTEE, REFUSED TO SUPPORT THESE MEASURES, AND SO WE ARE GRANTED A TEMPORARY REPRIEVE.
We are pleased to announce that Republican Assemblyman Boyle (8th district) joined fellow Republican Assemblymen McDonough and Fitzpatrick in opposing the death penalty in the Assembly Committee vote.
SAY THANKS TO ASSEMBLYMAN BOYLE FOR KEEPING THE DEATH PENALTY OUT OF NY!
