Dear Abolitionist:

Thank you for another year of success in continuing to keep the death penalty out of New York State! The message “We will not be silent” about our state using our taxpayer dollars to fund a flawed system that does not deter crime, which can execute innocents, and promotes a message of violence must continue to be voiced OUT LOUD!

This year we have particularly hard task: The New York State Court of Appeals will hear shortly the appeal of John Taylor, the defendant in the Wendy’s case and the sole remaining inmate of NY’s death row. There is a real possibility that the Court will reverse its June 2004 decision to put the death penalty on hold, and bring it back.

We take this risk extremely seriously.

Please contact us for more information, to let us know if you are interested and whether Albany and the June 2 date work for you. Whatever the outcome of the Court of Appeals case, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS who can help us spread our message in YOUR OWN capaicty. This is extremely important work- and some preparation for the task is
helpful. For those interested in participating, we will be holding a “training day” for volunteers, tentatively in Albany and tentatively on June 2. Transportation will be ON US. This project is in the planning stages and we’d like your feedback about the choice of date and location. Send me a message or give a call!
