Folks, next Tuesday at the SPN forum in Bay Shore, we are going to show one of my all-time favorite classic movies, which I just obtained, after a long, and now fruitful, search.
do you remember the movie “Tribes”?
here’s the description from the back of the video box:
TRIBES
A flower child blossoms into a marine.
Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Drake prides himself on being able to mold just about any man into a bona fide, semper fi Marine. But one look at Adrian Stone’s shoulder length hair, Hindu robe, sandals and beads makes him realize that this time around he’s got his work cut out for him. Darren McGavin and Jan-Michael Vincent star as a tough-as-nails drill instructor and a recruit who’s even rawer than your everyday boot camp draftee. A humorous and moving look at the making of a Marine, TRIBES won an Emmy award for best original teleplay. color 1970. 90 minutes.
Features: Darren McGavin, Jan-Michael Vincent, and Earl Holliman
This film will be shown in the upstairs meeting room of the Bay Shore Library next Tuesday 3/27 at 7:30 pm , it is a FREE EVENT, and all are invited. We will have light refreshments and brief discussion, since the film is 90 minutes, and the whole shebang should be over by 9:30pm.
In case you are wondering, I went to the library tonite to test the video equipment and it works fine! Tell your friends to come next Tuesday to Bay Shore to see a classic time-piece film that many of us remember as personifying the cultural and generational struggle of that period.
the Bay Shore Library is located on rt. 27A , montuak highway about a mile east of Robert Moses Pkwy, diagonally across from the Forum Diner. Still under renovation, the entrance is to the rear. Pass the word, and look forward to seeing you at the movie! PEACE ON!
