Usually Soul Growth is the First Saturday, this month you may not have a conflict so you should go to see this wonderful performer and the person who organizes the annual Harry Chapin benefit concert now at Nassau County’s Eisenhower Park! The date for this years concert is tentatively Monday, August 22.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Stuart Markus He attended the Eastman School of Music served as arranger and director of an accapella group while studying at the University of Pennsylvania. His yearly Groundhog’s Day performance of The Ballad of Malverne Mel receives annual coverage. Listed in Newsday as one of “Long Island’s Best“. Good Times Magazine writes, “Markus has a gentle, clean voice and his writing shows a good sense of his place in the world. This is an artist that everyone should check out live.” “…A talented singer-songwriter and a versatile showman. {Stuart’s} songs touched the audience and his personal anecdotes kept them waiting to hear more.” – Arien Muzacz of Barnard College.
Stuart has shared the stage with many notable singer-songwriters such as Tom Paxton, Oscar Brand, Chrisine Lavin, Dan Bern, David Buskin, Dar Williams and John Hall of the band Orleans. His 1996 CD release, Not the Only One Who Feels This Way has gotten college and commercial radio play across the eastern U.S. and his second CD, The View from the Side of the Road, is in limited release and has received college and folk radio play. Stuart’s political parody single, “The Moderate,” made the Folk DJ-List top 100 last October.
Stuart Markus also private and corporate events, country clubs, coffee houses and restaurants around the New York City and Long Island region.
Stuart is once again organizing the Harry Chapin Tribute benefit concert this summer, where it will be at Eisenhower Park Concert Series, tentatively on Monday, August 22.
