This element is associated with passion, transformation, creativity, energy, strength and the will. The season is Summer and the direction is South. Dress in the colors of Fire: red, orange and gold. Put on your sarongs, bellydance wear, coin belts, copper or gold jewelry to bring out that firey spirit within. Bring bells, tambourines, zils, doumbeks, guiros, sordos and other metal instruments representing the direction of South as well as your normal percussion and drums. Come join us in the celebration and play, sing or dance to the Fire element! Drumming in Bethpage Park Sunday July 1st at Bethpage State Park, Nassau County NY. 1pm til whenever. Please join us for Drumming in the Park at the Bethpage State Park picnic area. Bethpage State Park is located at exit 8 on 135 Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, which can be picked up from The LIE, Northern and Southern State Parkways. The picnic area entrance is just east 135 overpass. Drive all the way in to parking lot. Parking is $5. There is renovation going on so we’ll have to see what area we can stake out, generally we go to the back left. There are many grills available, so bring charcoal if you are a large group we usually run out. We DO have a permit for beer and wine. Bring a fold up chair for drumming or beach chair for lounging, and we CAN arrange picnic tables to accommodate drummers with no chairs. There are also bike paths, open fields, baseball areas, and play area for toddlers. We’ll check the weather the day before and decide to schedule a rain date if need be. Richie G
