The vast Great South Bay is a critical habitat and a segment of the barrier beach and backbarrier lagoon system of the south shore of Long Island and it’s beauty and fragility is the theme for this month’s Green Drink’s Long Island networking event. 

Green Drinks International is a global networking organization with chapters in over 220 cities worldwide (Greendrinks.org).  Green Drink’s events draws people from academia, business (green products, transportation, energy related, etc), NGOs, governmental agencies, politicians and unaffiliated people who are interested in green business, energy issues and matters of sustainability.

Long Island has long been a source of energy research, environmental leadership and green business initiatives.  Local legislators such as Suffolk County Majority Leader, Jon Cooper and United States Congressman Steve Israel envision Long Island as a green technology “Silicon Valley”.  Green Drinks Long Island seeks to facilitate a critical mass of relationships and collaborations where ideas, dreams and deals can flourish and provide a platform for Long Island’s leadership in the new green energy economy.
