The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has announced details of its third workshop for musicians, “Meet the Press”. It will be presented on Monday, August 27 at 7:30 PM at the Holiday Inn, 3845 Veterans Memorial Highway in Ronkonkoma, New York. Free.
This workshop will give musicians a unique view of life on the other side of the pen. Questions and ideas that will be explored include: how to get a band or music organization press coverage, how to attract the attention of different publications, the elements of a good press release, and many other aspects of public relations. The event will consist of a panel discussion moderated by Richard L’Hommedieu – Chairman of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, a question and answer period and finally a meet and greet, where musicians will have the opportunity to talk directly with the Long Island music press.
Scheduled panelists include Newsday staff writers Rafer Guzman and Glenn Gamboa, Good Times’ editor Richard Branciforte, Aural Fix Communique’s publisher Michael Ferrari (member of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Board of Directors), Inside Connection magazine’s Scott Kuchler, Nada Marjanovich, publisher of Long Island Pulse magazine and Arnold Miller, Multimedia Editor of Newsday.com, who will speak about featuring videos of Long Island music groups on Newsday.com. There will also be a free drawing for music prizes that evening.
This program is free and open to the public – no registration is required. All musicians, bands, entertainers, venues, managers and artist representatives are invited to attend this continuing series of free Long Island Music Hall of Fame workshops dealing with the music business, as an art-form and a business, on Long Island.
Sponsors of this Long Island Music Hall of Fame workshop are Holiday Inn Ronkonkoma, the Guitar Center and Jeffrey James Arts Consulting.

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which defines Long Island geographically rather than politically, as Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties, was created as a place to inspire in each person the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms and to be a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame sponsors the Long Island Sound Award, traveling educational exhibits and is working to create a permanent home for the story of the Island’s musical heritage.
They will present their Second Annual Long Island Music Hall of Fame Induction Gala on October 21, 2007 at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College CUNY, in Flushing, Queens.
