The Life of Bayard Rustin
This documentary is about a key activist and lieutenant of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It presents a vivid drama, intermingling the personal and the political, about one of the most enigmatic figures in 20th-century American history. Rustin was a central organizer for the March of Washington in 1963 and one of the first “freedom riders.” He is also considered to be the first gay rights activist.
The movie won numerous awards from LGBT festivals, received ìeightî best documentary awards, and was a selection in the Sundance, Amnesty International and National Black Arts festivals.
