Caveats: Someone else must have said about Rove’s tactics and the Rev. Wright brouhaha, but I haven’t seen it. And if you are a regularly reader of this blog you know that Obama is way to corporate for my taste.
I thought about Bush’s joke about Obama couldn’t make a fundraiser because he was in church, and I realized that the whole attack in Rev. Wright is straight out of Karl Rove’s playbook. One of Obama’s strengths in attracting non-traditional Democratic voters is his bona fides as being very involved in his church. Karl Rove is famous for finding a way to twist an opposing candidate’s strength into a weakness such as John Kerry’s Swift Boat service, Max Cleland’s patriotism, and John McCain’s adoption of an Asian child.
