Flawless 3 and 4 part harmonies are usually the first thing that audiences are drawn to in the live set, but ultimately it’s the songwriting that gives the music a timeless feel. David Celia is to the today’s music scene what Ron Sexsmith was ten years ago; a talented singer-songwriter who has everything he needs – great musicianship, a beautiful voice and good songs.
In 2006, David had the pleasure of being asked to perform with legendary country-rock music innovators Ian and Sylvia Tyson at a rare performance in Toronto. More Recently, David performed at Canada’s Mariposa Festival, opening for Gordon Lightfoot. He has also recently toured England and Europe, opening for Elvis Costello and Badly Drawn Boy.
David is here in support of his current CD “This Isn’t Here” – a new collection of wonderful songs that makes a perfect summer soundtrack. You can check out some of his music at http://www.myspace.com/davidcelia .
If you’ve been lucky enough to catch Jim Tepe in one of his rare concert appearances, you know that it’s an experience you don’t soon forget. This Long Island born and based guitarist draws from a seemingly endless well of Americana, from bluegrass to blues, from ragtime to swing and everywhere in between.
The Song Box house concert series is now in its 8th season. This month’s show will be held at a private residence in Seaford (south shore Nassau County). Seating is limited to about 35. A pot-luck buffet is served during the break between performers – bring something if you’re feeling creative.
