South Country Peace Group’s Annual World Peace Vigil–August 6, “Hiroshima Day”–Candlelight Procession to Bellport Bay + Program at Bay+Gathering at UUFB.
We will gather on the sidewalk adjacent to Woodland Cemetery at 6:45 PM. We will start a slow candlelight procession down Station Rd (on the sidewalk) at 7:00 PM (sharp). When we arrive at the Bellport Bay there will be a program of short talks, music & poetry. (You can take Station Rd south from either Sunrise H or Montauk H . The cemetery is in the west side.)
This year’s our program will include local activist-singer Catherine Synan Greene & Veterans For Peace member Mac Bica. Following the program all are welcome back at the UUFB ( 51 Browns Lane & and a short 5 minute walk from the Bay) for refreshments.
Please join the South Country Peace Group as we once again gather to mark the occasion of the first atomic bombing. This will be South Country Peace Group’s 26th annual World Peace Vigil as we commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima on Wednesday, August 6.
The SCPG says NO to nuclear weapons & YES to nuclear non-proliferation & disarmament.
