Wappingers Falls man thanked for saving life of young girl
10-year-old nearly drowned in water mishap

PUTNAM VALLEY, Putnam County – A 10-year-old Long Island girl who nearly drowned while waterskiing on Lake Oscawana last week has fully recovered and has returned to school.
Haley Silverman of Woodbury was pulled under the water after becoming tangled in the ski rope as it became lodged in her boat’s jet engine. Rodney Cornish of Wappingers Falls was among those who raced to her rescue. He ultimately cut the rope and freed her.Dina Cornish, Rodney Cornish’s wife, also spoke to Haley Silverman and her mother last week.
