Dr. John Haegert, joins us from Indiana to discuss ‘Narrative Restlessness — D. H. Lawrence and the
Art of Fiction.’ His lecture is taken from his book-in-progress on ‘D. H. Lawrence and the
Transgressive Imagination: Authority and Mutiny in the Major Fiction.‘

at the University of Evansville in Indiana — where he had taught English and American literature
for over 25 years — include UE’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award, the Sadelle and Sydney
Berger Award for Outstanding Scholarly Achievement, the Dean’s Teaching Award in Arts & Sciences
for Exemplary Teaching & Mentoring, and multiple election (in 1998, 2002, and 2004) to
‘Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.’ Dr. Haegert has been a Visiting Professor in American Literature
at both UCLA and the Sorbonne.
