(Excerpt from) Ballot Access News:
Minor Party, Independent Presidential Candidates May Have Tipped 4 States
November 4th, 2008
Apparently, as of 10:20 Pacific time on Nov 4th, Election Night, there are four states in which no presidential candidate won as much as 50% of the vote. According to this excellent Associated Press website, those 4 states are:
North Carolina
Montana
Indiana
Missouri
[Editor’s note: The third party candidates seemed to shift the win different ways – sometimes for McCain, sometimes for Obama. The Green Party was not included in these particular close races. It was more about Nader, Barr and Ron Paul. Still, very interesting figures.]
