Barack Obama was sworn in by John G. Roberts, Jr., Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Both the justice and Barack Obama used his whole middle name, “Barack Hussein Obama.” I am glad for that. It was rumored he might shorten it to “H” because of the controversy of his middle name being Arabic and the same as another famous world figure. Still, it is a common name in some cultures. And, it’s his name.
Barack did a bit of a Princess Diana and had to have some of the words of the oath repeated to him again.
Still, it went well and he got them all out.
Barack Obama is now the 44th President of these United States.
After he took the oath, him and his family waved to the crowd. Sasha was full of waving and enthusiasm, and it was cute that she kind of turned around and waved at her parents a bit.
President Barack Obama gives his speech…
“mindful of the sacrifices born by our ancestors…”
(Many black people will see that as an acknowledgement of slavery, though, it is just subtle enough to mean everyone.)
[Later in the speech, he says, “endured the lash of the whip”. Good for you, President Obama…]
“the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms…”

I don’t think anyone will hold this against him. It was overall a good ceremony.
Let’s hope he doesn’t screw up… much.
