Assembly Speaker: NYS budget deal has been reached

ALBANY – Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D- Manhattan) told reporters Tuesday a deal had been reached to close this year’s $1.6-billion budget deficit.
He wouldn’t provide details, but said the agreement had been reached with Gov. David A. Paterson and State Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith (D-Manhattan).
It was unclear whether lawmakers would have a bill to vote on Tuesday night. They have two more session days this week…[some details and compromises listed at Newsday: here.]
