New York Library Association — Prevent Further Cuts in Library Aid
About the cuts, and who you should contact:
Prevent Further Cuts in Library Aid
The New York Library Association urges you to contact the Governor and your state legislators to voice your opposition to further cuts in Library Aid. Funding for libraries has already been cut twice in 2008 and the proposed $18 million (18%) cut would bring Library Aid down to 1993 levels.
This funding cut comes at a time when library usage has skyrocketed due to the downturn in the economy and people turn to libraries to search for jobs, apply for public assistance, research new business opportunities and access free reading materials, literacy programs and cultural events for their children.
