Mother Earth Day address on WBAI 99.5 FM NYC
Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma will visit the United Nations in New York City on Wednesday, April 22, and will deliver a historic speech in Harlem. There are tickets available for the event in advance, and the speech will be broadcast on WBAI 99.5 FM radio.
The Bolivian government seeks recognition for Mother Earth Day, an initiative that will promote the right of humankind to live healthy and in harmony with nature.
Mother Earth Day would celebrate April 22nd as an annual international event incorporating an indigenous approach to the current Earth Day celebration which is not officially celebrated at the UN.
President Morales comes with messages on the environment, the unfair ban on traditional uses of the coca leaf, and US-Bolivia relations.
President Morales’ speech will be simulcast live on WBAI 99.5 FM and www.wbai.org with hosts Tiokasin Ghosthorse of First Voices Indigenous Radio and Mario Murillo of Wake-Up Call.

UNITED NATIONS (CNN/UNTV) – Wednesday is Earth Day, and at the United Nations, Bolivia’s president called on countries to agree on a declaration of rights for the planet.
“We now have to recognize that Earth does not belong to us. It’s the other way around – we belong to Earth. And it’s our mission in the world to watch over the rights – not just of human beings – but also the rights of Mother Earth and of all living beings,” said President Evo Morales of Bolivia…
