At Gilgo Beach, at Robert Moses State Park, and in Montauk, flooding impacts some roads and use of beaches. This affects the Town of Babylon, Town of Islip, and the Town of East Hampton (hamlet of Montauk). As the advisory leading up to last night had mentioned, part of the reason was the affect of the new moon on tides.

Storm creates flooding, erosion on South Shore

Atlantic storm surges caused significant erosion on the South Shore, closing fishing areas at Robert Moses State Park and Montauk Point, State Parks spokesman George Gorman said Sunday.
The swells pushed ocean water up to the sand dunes at Robert Moses, leaving the entire beach under water in some parts of the park…
Fishing areas typically accessible by four-wheel drive vehicles were closed at Gilgo Beach, Robert Moses State Park and Montauk, Gorman said, because the tides made the roads impassable.
North Shore officials did not report any road closings due to the storms…
