Bill Staines

Bill Staines www.acousticmusic.com/staines at Our Times Coffeehouse, Third Friday, January 15, Concert 8 pm; Doors 7:15 pm. Save your seat and enjoy refreshments before the show!  Our Times Coffeehouse, Ethical Humanist Society, 38 Old Country Road, Garden City, NY. 2 miles West of Meadow Brook Parkway, Past Franklin (Mineola Blvd), South (Left) Side next to water tower. About ¼ mi East of end of Old Country Rd (turns North & becomes Herricks Rd & goes under the railroad, Rockaway Ave goes South)  http://www.ourtimescoffeehouse.org 516 541 1066  Admission $15. Seniors (65 & Up) & Students (w/school I.D.) $12; Children (under 12) $6; (very young children are free)

Welcome in the New Year as Bill makes his annual visit to the Our Times Coffeehouse. A New England native, singing mostly his own songs, BILL STAINES has become one of the most popular and prolific performers on the folk circuit today. Bill weaves a warm blend of wit and gentle humor into his performances, and as one reviewer wrote “he has a sense of timing to match the best stand-up comic.” His music is a slice of Americana , reflecting with the same ease, his feelings about the prairie people of the Midwest or the adventurers of the Yukon .. Bill Staines may even do a yodeling tune or two — having won the National Yodeling Championship in 1975 at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas . Bill has entered his fourth decade as a folk performer, on guitar, with an international reputation.

“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ ” Matthew 25:34-40
