Ana Božičević was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1977. She emigrated to NYC in 1997. Stars of the Night Commute (Tarpaulin Sky Press, November 2009) is her first book of poems. Her fifth chapbook, Depth Hoar, will be published by Cinematheque Press in 2010. With Amy King, Ana co-curates The Stain of Poetry reading series in Brooklyn, and is co-editing an anthology, The Urban Poetic, forthcoming from Factory School. She works at the Center for the Humanities of The Graduate Center, CUNY.
John La’Cella, Scott Ross and Bobby Cattrano comprise the jazz trio named JazzBone. Their new CD is entitled JazzBone and was recorded completely live at Sharptone studios on Long Island, New York. The entire project was recorded by Mike Sharp on August 2nd & 3rd and September 13th, 2008 and was produced by the members of JazzBone
JOHN LA’CELLA is a noted drummer, teacher, author and performer. He has performed with many artists over the years including Bill Godwin’s Ink Spots, The Cavaliers, The McCoy’s (Hang on Sloopy), The Bobettes, The Roommates, The Thymes, Eugene Pitt of The Jive Five, Sheps Limelight’s ( Daddy’s Home), Jimmy Merchant of The Teenagers, The Dubs and many more. John has also done session work on jingles and television shows as well as recordings for several artists including The Ink Spots Live on Stage CD. Other work includes freelance gigs for Hank Lane Orchestras and Steven Scott Orchestras and several years as a club date drummer. John is an in demand drum instructor and has done several drum clinics for both Sam Ash Music and Guitar Center with sponsorship from Pro Mark Drumsticks, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Alfred Publishing and Modern Drummer Magazine. He has written a drum instruction book entitled “Multi-Style Drum Technique” which has been praised by Dom Famularo (World Class Drum Educator), Ed Shaughnessy (Johnny Carson Tonight Show Drummer) and Hal Blaine (Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound Drummer).
SCOTT ROSS is a talented guitarist who has been performing in the metro area for over three decades. He has played with numerous local blues, rock & jazz acts and also leads his own band. He has opened for B.B. King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Winter and Roy Buchanan. Mr. Ross has been critiqued as one of Long Islands finest Blues/Jazz Guitarists and a performer who “delivers the goods” by local newspapers and Channel 12 News.
BOBBY CATTRANO bassist and songwriter has performed, recorded and toured with many artists in his career. These artists include Billy Joel (The Cold Spring Harbor Album), The Drifters, The Toys, The Capris, The Faithtones and his current project “The Defibrillators”. Other artists Bobby has performed with include the late & great Little Buster, Joe Vicino, Donny Celenza, Jim Moran and Toby Walker. Some of the venues Bobby has performed at include the IMAC at Huntington; The Bolton Center; The Riverhead Blues Festival; The Great South Bay Music Festival;The Port Jefferson Jazz & American Music Festival & more. He opened for The Zombies, Leon Russel, & Suzi Tyrell of th E Street Band and has appeared on local cable television as well as WLIW channel 21’s “Act ll with Newsday, Stony Brook’s WUSB and many other local radio shows.
