Since December 2002, the North Country Peace Group has demonstrated every Saturday morning at the corner of 25A and Bennetts Road in Setauket, initially to oppose the use of force in Iraq, and after the invasion,
to demand an end to the wars both in Iraq and Afghanistan and the safe return of our troops.
Over 4,382 American troops have died since the U.S. invaded Iraq on March 19, 2003, along with estimates of over 104,000 Iraqis. More than 1,019 U.S. troops have died since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
As we enter the EIGHTH YEAR of the immoral, illegal and costly war in Iraq – particularly at a time when American families are struggling to keep their homes and pay their bills – we encourage our fellow community
members to join us in solidarity for peace and justice in the middle east.
As of March 1, 2010, the war in Iraq alone had cost U.S. taxpayers $711 billion. To date, we have spent a staggering $970 BILLION on the two wars combined!

Yes. I believe that among the many local groups that endorsed were Code Pink and a local veterans peace group. I was not part of the planning this time. But, they are usually done with lots of cooperation.
