Tuesday, March 16th 2010, 10:35 PM
A New York state senator who was expelled after a domestic violence conviction has lost his long-shot bid to get his seat back in a special election.
Assemblyman Jose Peralta beat Hiram Monserrate with 60 percent of the vote Tuesday…
KW writes: As a third party activist–who leans towards “Green Party”, and believes in integrity–I am not thrilled with Jose Peralta [Democrat], either (See this story at Gothamist). I was cheering only to get rid of Monserrate, who was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend. Now, let’s work to replace Peralta with someone better, and to revamp the whole electoral system so that the Democrats and Republicans don’t get to stick us with such bad choices all around!
