Chapman Stick Clinic with Steve Adelson
Tuesday August 17th at 7pm
All Music Store, 397D South Oyster Bay Road, Plainview, NY 11803
Imagine creating music on an instrument that is simultaneously a guitar, a bass, a piano, and percussion. Add unlimited electronic capabilities and forward-thinking playing techniques for ultimate expression. Now, design a tuning to make navigation of the instrument amazingly simple, and streamline the look and feel for optimal accessibility. This instrument already exists as the Chapman Stick.
On Tuesday August 17th at 7PM, world renowned jazz musician Steve Adelson will be here demonstrating the revolutionary Chapman Stick in an up-close, hands-on workshop. Steve will also be demonstrating Emmett Chapman’s unique two-handed tapping method, which connects the musician more powerfully and more intimately to a stringed instrument than ever before.
With both hands as equal partners on the fretboard, each hand can play independent lines, or the two hands can work in concert to form interlaced arrangements. The Stick method enables live execution of complete musical concepts, from the bass on through chords and melody, to the effects, ambients and sweeteners, greatly enlarging the musical scope.
