Kimberly writes: LOL! I love this stuff. Political comedian Jon Stewart has announced that he is holding an October 30, 2010 rally in D.C. called “Rally to Restore Sanity”. And, Stephen Colbert (on the same network), announced a competing rally!
And, I am thinking that these rallies might be more interesting and/or effective than the previously announced rally being set for October 2nd in DC. Though, check out the article at bottom for attempts to turn the October 2, 2010 rally into something real…

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert plan D.C. rallies
Oct. 30: “Rally to Restore Sanity,” “March to Keep Fear Alive”
By Lindsay Power / Sept 17, 2010, 08:09
On Thursday’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” the host announced plans to hold an event against extremism in Washington D.C. called “Rally to Restore Sanity.”
“See you October 30 on the National Mall to spread the timeless message, ‘Take it down a notch for America,'” he said. “A million Moderate march, where we take to the streets to send a message to our leaders and our national media that says, ‘We are here! We… are only here until six though, because we have a sitter.'”
Not to be outdone, Stephen Colbert announced on his Comedy Central show, which airs directly after Stewart’s, that he was throwing a competing rally: “March to Keep Fear Alive.”
Website for the “allegedly real” One Nation Rally on October 2, 2010 in DC: here.
The quote at that website says, “On October 2, 2010, tens of thousands of people will march in solidarity at the Nation’s Capitol in order to protect our jobs, our education and our economy. Sign up to become part of One Nation Working Together.” [KW: Notice it says nothing about “peace”]
For a critique, with positive suggestions, for the One Nation/October 2 Rally, see Black Agenda Report: here.
The article at BAR is titled, “Let’s Have a Real Protest, Not a Democratic Pep Rally, on October 2nd“. A quote, “A Washington rally for jobs, justice and peace that makes no specific demands on President Obama would amount to a capitulation to the status quo on all counts.”
