The fact is that the audience last night responded most warmly and excitedly to McMillan’s so-crazy-it-just-might-work rent reduction plan, and Hawkins’s general decency and exasperation, and Redlich’s idealistic anti-government stance, and Davis’s tongue-lashings. These are not, in the parlance, “viable” candidates. But they — well, Hawkins and Redlich, anyway — offer viable plans.
