IW spoke with these 2 strikers in Riverhead today. They explainined that Verizon has been showing a profit and the top executives are getting raises, but they are asking the workers to take a $20k cut in salary and benefits. They said they could understand the request if the company was losing money, but this just seems like union busting. This kind of business is destroying this country. If nobody has a well-paying job, then nobody can afford to buy anything. Even Henry Ford understood that a middle class creates wealth.
As Jobs with Justice explained:
In the past four years, Verizon made more than $19 billion in profits and paid its top five executives more than a quarter of a billion dollars. But it is still trying to outsource even more jobs, demand workers pay more for benefits and undermine their retirement security.

It is my contention that leadership (and a majority of others who are, too, criminals in congress) are carrying out a pre-planned, orchestrated theft of immense proportions (the largest in the history of the world).
This is no longer about “politics” and winning elections. This is about creating chaos and tearing apart the standard of living in America that made these corporations rich, making a new system where these same corps can be even richer while the entire population is shuttled DOWN into serfdom.
This is so plainly, blatantly Fascism that no one really can argue with that. Corporations OWN our government and intend to bring us down in wages and living to Chinese (or less) standards. Americans be damned.
Well said. It is a the classical definition of fascism: a government run for the benefit of corporations.
