When I tell stories about the folk art we sell, or about sugar skulls, I am remembering 29 years of past visits to DoD… the markets, warm invitations to family’s homes, being offered hot fruity punch while walking past a tomb in a cemetery…. I have a full heart of memories, walking into unfamiliar bakeries in Veracruz or Patzcuaro that smelled incredibly yummy, and being invited into the back room where the baker was up to his elbows in dough, working in front of an ancient stone oven. These experiences would have never happened in the United States!
