If you are on Long Island, and admiring the Occupy Wall Street demonstration, here is a very local opportunity for you to gain visibility for peace and justice. Bellport on Sat. Oct 1st at 11am. This request was reposted by Bill McNulty of “Lunch with Bill” on WUSB radio Stony Brook:
A [local newspaper] has informed the Bellport Woman In Black that they will be in Bellport tomorrow, Saturday, October 1st to report on their ongoing vigil on Station Road and South Country Road from 11am-noon.
Signs at this vigil have been showing the cost of military actions around the world. We can link our local vigil with the Occupation of Wall St. and still have plenty of the day left to occupy Wall St.
Please support Women In Black tomorrow as this opportunity to be interviewed…arises!
Thank you and hope to see you there!
More about Women in Black:
Women in Black is a world-wide network of women committed to peace with justice and opposed to injustice, war and militarism.
The Women in Black vigils are traditionally silent. Though, Long Island culture sometimes includes some chatting and/or a reading of the names of people lost in war.
