Friday, February 28: “Hit Them In Their Pockets.” In order to challenge the way that the Tr*mp administration, Elon Musk, and the Congress are attacking our rights and shredding our Constitution, people around America are deciding to “Stand Up. Fight Back” with the our power as consumers.
On this day…from midnight on Thursday, Feb 27th until midnight on Friday, February 28th, people of goodwill are asked to refrain from buying gasoline, fast food, or products from any major retailer, big corporation, or big box store.
Some of the stores that have been singled out for boycott on February 28th are:
Amazon
Walmart
Best Buy and
Target
(And, do not buy gas. And, do not buy fastfood.)
Some groups are encouraging purchases from small, local businesses only.
We have seen this action mentioned: on a chart on FaceBook; by the group “Third Act” Oregon; by the website “The People’s Union”; and in various news media such as USA Today.
The reasoning for the boycott seems to have started with targeting businesses who dissolved their DEI initiatives. Though, with the energy of Feb 17th, “No Kings Day”, activists have been looking for broader ways to show their distaste for the policies of the current administration.

If you want to spread the word, here are some slogans for signs, leaflets, or websites:

“If you want as much power as Elon Musk: Buy nothing on February 28th!”
“Save Social Security and Medicaid for yourself and your elderly family members!: Boycott Big Business!”
“When the Billionaires push us around: Stand up! Fight back! Boy-cott!”
“Stand up for diversity: Don’t shop where it’s not honored!”
