brunch and lunch. $10 for Students.On March 12th, our recently formed chapter will be sponsoring a day-long event focused on the twin themes “How War and Violence Affect Women” and “How Women Can Wage Peace.”
Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CodePink, will be the keynote speaker and the panel will consist of representatives from CODE PINK, Grandmothers Against the War, Military Families Speak Out and VIBS (Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk County), as well as a female Iraqi War Veteran.
Following the first film, Sisters in Resistance, a true story of four courageous French women who risked their lives as members of the Resistance in Nazi-occupied France, there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker. The second film is an interview of Alice Walker by WBAI’s Amy Goodman, with the author and activist describing her recent arrest and her motivation for her front-line battles for peace.
