Can you distinguish this photo? Who are they?…Invisible Men? This photo was taken Monday October 12, 2009, el Día de la Raza*, Day of the discovery of America. At 5:51 in the morning it isn’t clear…are they laborers, waiting in the parking lot of Home Depot, in Hempstead, Long Island, New York? Probably they arose early, with the illusion to discover America…
**The basic meaning of ” Día de la Raza” is the “Day of the Race”, also known as Columbus day in the US , and it is celebrated on October 12th by the Spanish Speaking communities to commemorate the discovery of America. For a fuller explanation, go: here.
