Wednesday, March 15, 12:00 – 2:00 pm & 6:00 pm
NYC Media March will take a tour to the headquarters of
major media outlets with signs calling upon them to “Tell
the Truth About the War!” The March will assemble at CBS
(51 West 52nd) and travel past NBC, CNN, Fox, ABC, Reuters,
NY Times and MTV. There will also be silent vigils at 6:00
pm during the evening newscasts at CNN (West 58th St), CBS
Broadcast Center (West 57th and l0th), NBC (outside where
the Today Show broadcasts) and Fox (48th and 6th). These
actions are part of UFPJ and Media Channel’s National Day

Mark the 3rd Anniversary of the War on Iraq with UFPJ/NYC
and Member Groups

March 19 is the 3rd Anniversary of the United States’
illegal invasion of Iraq. UFPJ will be marking this sad
occasion with a week of activities around the nation from
March 15 – 22. Below is a listing of events planned by
UFPJ/NYC and its member groups. For a full listing of these

Monday, March 20, 4:00 pm: Honk for Peace! Picket Vito
Fossella’s Office. Although Vito Fossella had voted
consistently to support the Iraq War, he recently voted for
Bush’s budget, which cuts funding for the Veterans
Administration and cuts benefits for returning veterans.
This is part of UFPJ’s National Day of Action on Congress.

Tuesday, March 21, 6:30 – 8:30 pm: Town Hall Meeting – The
War on Iraq Comes Home with elected officials invited to
hear testimony about the effects of the War on Iraq in our

for April 29th with the goal of getting out 10,000

Thursday, March 16, 8:00 pm: Trojan Women – a play that
deals with the effects of occupation with a panel
discussion on “The True Cost of War: In Iraq & At Home.”
The Trojan Women creative team will join staff and
distinguished guests from United for Peace & Justice for a
discussion on the human toll of war, and how The Trojan

Saturday, March 18th, 2:30 pm: One Bright Shining Moment
with George McGovern. A benefit showing of the film “One
Bright Shining Moment: The Forgotten Summer of George
McGovern” with Senator George McGovern in person. The film
is a portrait of the 1972 presidential candidate who
campaigned to end the war in Vietnam. Benefit for Peace

Sunday, March 19, 2:00 pm: Back from Iraq – NYC Vets Speak
Out! Hear testimonies of a NYC veteran, Congressman Major
Owens, and Job Mashariki of Black Veterans for Social
Justice. Many vets are returning home to face unemployment,
homelessness, mental and physical health problems, and a
lack of adequate services. Come learn about their
experiences. Co-sponsored by Black Veterans for Social
Justice, Brooklyn Parents for Peace, and Office of

Invasion Anti-War Procession. This march will begin at 59th
St. & Fifth Ave., proceed to the Times Square Recruiting
Station and through theatre district before ending up at
the Intrepid floating war museum (12th Ave. & 46 St.).

Monday, March 20th, 8 pm: Bring ‘Em Home Now Concert.
Musicians, including Michael Stipe, Rufus Wainwright, and
Bright Eyes will join peace activist Cindy Sheehan and
Susan Sarandon. Additional artists include Fischerspooner,
Peaches, Chuck D, Steve Earle, and Devendra Banhart, and
more artists to be announced in the coming weeks. Benefit
