Let’s face it as long as there are humans on earth we will never have a pristine environment. But, we can try and minimize our impact by ending practices that cause the horrible wreckage that surface mining does. “Steady job or healthy environment: what [sic] would you choose?”… I’d pick a healthy environment. More sustainable jobs result from our efforts to keep a healthy environment. The demographics are showing that the number of alternative energy jobs are overtaking the mining jobs. So, the jobs argument is going away as the potential for saving the mountains increases. All these environmental, economic, and health discussions aside… all we have to do is open our eyes and look at the mess we’re making.
