When Occupy Oakland called for a general strike on November 2nd, they were able to shut down the Port of Oakland. It was a great moment for the power of the people, the power of the 99%, and the cause of the occupation.
Now, many of the west coast occupations have gotten together in an attempt to shut down all west coast ports. Occupy Portland (Oregon) and Occupy Oakland (California) are hubs for this action, though, all west coast cities are being asked to participate in a “Coordinated West Coast Port Blockade”.
How can you support this historic event on Monday, December 12th? (Some ideas: Let your friends in California, Oregon, and other west coast states know; Blog about the action alert; Share the video; Go to Oakland or Portland.)

About the video: The Occupy movement calls for a Dec. 12th West Coast Port Shutdown. Featuring musician and activist Boots Riley. The video explains some of the focus of this event. It is in solidarity with the Long Shoreman and the Port Truckers. Two of the corporate entities who have been unjust are EGT and Goldman Sachs, so this action is about exposing “Wall Street on the Waterfront”.
Related news: Police clear Occupy San Francisco on 12/7/2011 (Will this further inspire the SF occupiers to help shut down west coast ports?)
