“When DNA is not enough: Criminal justice and wrongful convictions”
Molloy College‘s Biology/Chemistry Department, Department of Criminal Justice, Institute for Interfaith Dialogue, and Institute for Lifelong Learning are hosting a free public forum on DNA testing and criminal convictions. Jeffrey Deskovic, a New Yorker who spent 16 years behind bars even though DNA showed he was not the perpetrator of the crime for which he was accused, will speak about the work that needs to be done to bring justice to all. At Kellenberg Hall, 1000 Hemsptead Av, Rockville Centre.
Travel by Car: Take the Southern State Parkway (reached via the Cross Island Parkway from the Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges; or via the Belt Parkway from the Verrazano Bridge) to either Exit 19 or Exit 20.
Travel by Railroad & Bus Take the Long Island Railroad Babylon line from Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan, Flatbush Avenue Station in Brooklyn, or other Babylon line stations to the Rockville Centre Station. (Eastbound travelers inquire for possible change at Jamaica Station.) Bus and taxi service is available to and from campus. The N16 line of the Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority stops at the campus entrance.

Deskovic and Criminal Justice Professionals to Confront Wrongful Convictions
Current, retired, and future law enforcement officers in the Criminal Justice Department of Suffolk County Community College will join other members of the SCCC community to hear New York exoneree Jeffrey Deskovic tell his story. Deskovic was freed in 2006 when DNA evidence proved his innocence after he hadspent almost 16 years behind bars trying to free himself, A discussion will take place afterward about the place of the death
penalty in New York and whether or not it is viewed as an effective form of punishment by law enforcement professionals.
