Since climate change (global warming) is about a change over time, it is difficult to label single events as problems caused by climate change. Though, Bangladesh has been identified for many years as a place where climate change effects will cause harm. And, this latest round of flooding loss appears a profound example.

(Reuters) – Days of rain in Bangladesh, some of the heaviest in years, have set off flash floods and landslides, killing at least 70 people and stranding about 200,000, police and officials said on Wednesday.

Most of the deaths were caused by landslides, others by wall collapses, lightning strikes and surges of water. Army, police and fire brigade personnel were helping in rescue efforts…

This geology, combined with river water from the melting Himalayan glaciers in the north and an encroaching Bay of Bengal in the south, makes the region prone to severe flooding. So, here are some ideas about how to help Bangladesh: Act, vote, and occupy against war, because, war is a huge, global warming problem; Vote Green Party, because they have always understand the importance of the climate change issue; Take steps to decrease your carbon footprint, such as driving less and using less electricity, etc.; Await information about good places to donate to help the people in Bangladesh (I will seek out charities such as Doctors Without Borders who have a good track record and/or local charities.)
