The DC Statehood Green Party held a press conference outside the offices of the Washington Post, to protest the fact that the Post ignores them. In DC, the Green Party often comes in second place in elections, after the Democrats, but before the Republicans.
The Post answered back in an unusual way. They capitulated by covering the story of the protest. And, there are even two stories. The one story is just okay, and mentions Green Party Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney. It is here. The other story is hysterical. An on-line reporter got real clever. In answer to the Green Party’s complaints, and to support their point of view, he wrote a whole story that does not say the word “Green”, it describes the protest as being held by a “Certain Political Party That Will Go Unnamed.” That story is here.
There is a great picture, with a similar caption.
Congrats to the D.C. Statehood Green Party. Not only did you get the attention of the Washington Post, but you entered into a kind of humorous dialogue with their staff.
Now, go win some more elections!
