Ballot Access by State — Please Help if You Can!

ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY OF 2008 BALLOT STATUS This summary is limited to an evaluation of securing ballot lines for President in 2008, and does not extend to holding those lines beyond 2008.

As of July 26, 2008, the Green Party has ballot access in 22 states:

Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawai’i, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Completed petitions have been submitted in New Jersey and Washington, bringing the Green Party up to 24 ballot lines.

The deadline has already passed in Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas. We were well short in Pennsylvania. We have conceded falling short in Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, and South Dakota.

There are 14 states remaining in play; but in some of these states, there is no Green Party on the ground, and in others, the petition drive has either been halted or never began. All 14 are included below with the most recent information about them and what it would take to secure that ballot line.

For some states, current signature totals were not available.
