Part of belonging to a small and activist-based party such as the Green Party, is the chance for regular people to participate in a nationwide community of like-minded people. Through national Green Party list-serves, annual meetings, and projects, I have had the chance to get to know and understand peace and justice folks from all over the country.
The note below is from one of my Green Party colleagues from New Orleans. Good chance to wish someone well, hold someone in our thoughts, and get an eyewitness account of what is happening in our country.

Greetings from Huntsville, AL. Made it here after an 18 hour ride.
The I59 contraflow was a disaster because they ended it much too close to New orleans in Popularville , MS.
We progressed at 3mph for many hours since the 4 lanes were forced back into to 2 before any chance to branch out to alternate routes.
And a parallel Hwy number 11 was closed ND DRIVERS WERE THREATENED WITH JAIl IF THEY DIDN’T JOIN THE PARKING LOT ON THE iNTERSTATE.
The Gov of MS must be incompetent.

Reports are that one levee in NO is on the verge of breaking.
