THE FINAL OUTRAGE!!!
The Legendary Spunk Lads’s last show is this Saturday, October 25, 2008. The end of an era. Lead Singer Nick Knickers is leaving Brooklyn for the internally-combustive climes of Detroit, Michigan. While it’s possible some heretofore unpredictable cosmic event will bring the Lads together, everyone knows the cosmos do what they want…when they want…with whosoever they want.
You, however, control your own destiny.
Come see The Spunk Lads’ final show at the place where it all started — Freddy’s Bar & Backroom. Sure, the band’s first gig was at Dingwalls, London, 1976. But it was Freddy’s in January of 2001 — when the world was still the world before now — that hosted the Lads’ epic first reunion gig.
And now, the last.
Come see Nick Knickers, Bloody Dick, Prince Albert and Reggie Mental one last time. There’s no charge — Free The People/Free FOR The People, say the Lads.
Opening for the Lads is Brooklyn’s top film/video archivist, Russell Scholl, presenting Blank Generation. “Punk is not dead. Punk will only die when corporations can exploit and mass produce it” (Jello Biafra). Whether or not it’s been co-opted since, tonight socal film/video archivist Scholl fills the big screen with an hour of rare vintage Punk performances. Think Summer of ’77 (and then some). London. New York. L.A. The real stuff.
