Comparing Green Party and Green-ish Presidential Figures

So, due to the sheer luck of which counties publish their election resuls, and how thoroughly, I can come up with the following comparisons to put Green Party votes in perspective.

First of all, in 2008, Cynthia McKinney received 825 votes in Suffolk County. That is .13% of the vote. (Totals may increase on this year’s figures due to the recanvas.) In 2008, Cynthia McKinney received 706 votes in Nassau County.

The Suffolk County Board of Elections has an on-line database of election results going back to 2002. So, I can make the following comparisons:

2008. Green Party Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney (on ballot) – 825 votes in Suffolk (.13%)
2004. Green Party Presidential Candidate David Cobb (not on ballot) – 16 write-in votes in Suffolk

2008. Ralph Nader, Populist Party Candidate (on ballot) – 3,123 votes in Suffolk (.51%)
2004. Ralph Nader, two lines on ballot in NY – 11,803 votes in Suffolk (1.85%)

2008. Green Party Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney (on ballot) – 825 votes in Suffolk (.13%)
2008. Ralph Nader, Populist Party Candidate (on ballot) – 3,123 votes in Suffolk (.51%)

Since we even swapped polling results with the Libertarians this year, I better not leave out their candidate entirely. Even though this year, even more so than others, there did not seem to be much overlap with the Libertarian Presidential Candidate and the Green Party Candidate (except on the Federal Reserve, and the state of GA). So:

2008. Libertarian Presidential Candidate Bob Barr – 1,550 votes in Suffolk (.25%)
2004. Libertarian Presidential Candidate Michael Badnarik – 852 votes in Suffolk (.13%)
