Experts to Debate on the Past, Present, and Future of the Israeli / Palestinian Conflict

On Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Cold Spring Harbor Library (95 Main Street, Cold Spring Harbor, NY) at 7:oo PM, an exciting debate on the Israeli / Palestinian conflict will take place. The debate will feature noted Long Island author Alan B. Katz and Reverend Father George Makhlouf, Pastor of Saint John Antiochian Orthodox Church in Levittown. In the midst of the ever escalating conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, this timely debate will address many of the issues surrounding the military actions in Gaza, the climate for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and the role that the media plays in accurately reporting on the events surrounding Israel.

Alan B. Katz is the author of For the Record: Israel and the Palestinians. The book represents one man’s passion for defending Israel and its people in the face of extreme adversity and an onslaught of media inaccuracies and misinformation. Mr. Katz challenges the way we think about what is fair and accurate reporting when it comes to the media’s portrayal of Israel and its fight to secure its historical and sacred lands and the safety of its people.

Mr. Katz is a graduate of Syracuse University with a minor in Political Science from the prestigious Maxwell School. He studied law in New York and England and is admitted to practice in New York, Florida and the Federal Courts in New York as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Katz is a trustee of the Parker Jewish Institute. His opinion is frequently sought by television, radio and print media.

Reverend Father George Makhlouf is Pastor of St. John Antiochian Orthodox Church in Levittown. He was born in West Jerusalem and educated in East Jerusalem. Father Makhlouf followed his theological studies in East Jerusalem, Paris, France and in Lebanon. He was ordained priest in Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher on November 17, 1985. Father Makhlouf began his pastoral services in Ramallah, West Bank and became an activist during the first intifada in 1987. He was and remains engaged in peace and interfaith dialogue and attended many seminars pertaining to the Israeli/Palestinian struggle with Israeli and American Rabbis.

For more information on the debate, please contact Nightingale Public Relations at (631)3678599.
