The Billionth Avatar Post: The Movie Sells What It Opposes

Yeah, I’m showing up really late to the party.  Yet I have the benefit of knowing every criticism of the the movie that has come out from the ultra-left Nativists to the Wiccan-worried Vatican.  I think they are all off-base, but if I didn’t, what would be the point of this post? Avatar follows in […]

What should be done about all of these shootings and deaths?

Lever Voting Machines Still in New York

Please write in “Audrey Capozzi” for Suffolk County Treasurer. (see explanation below) KW: Ian and I went to vote today, at our polling station in North Babylon, New York. The truth about Eli Mystal and illegal immigrants

KW: The story of then-Legislator Elie Mystal saying an outrageous remark about immigrants, and the response to that remark, demonstrates some stark realities about the difficulties of community organizing, public communications, and keeping relationships among activists. The story below, by Elie Mystal’s son, inspires me, by confronting two awkward situations: former Legislator Elie Mystal, a […]

Long Island Newsday story about Frank McCourt

I had my brief brush with the happy life and person of Frank McCourt when I worked on his brother Malachy McCourt’s 2006 Governor campaign. Also, my mother-in-law read Frank McCourt’s book “Teacher Man” and kept telling me that I would love it. Suppose it is time to pick it up. Frank McCourt passed away […]
