Abolitionists! Welcome to our “Fall of the Death Penalty” Autumn Campaign!
Many events across the Island are being scheduled with fantastic speakers– David Kaczynski, exonerees, Murder victims family members for Human Rights–to get you, your community and friends out and energized to end the death penalty in New York! As the heart and soul of our
movement, we are also planning an end of Autumn gathering to celebrate YOU and your participation in stopping the death penalty. Until then, we have an entire Season to work together–if you could think of any group you are involved in that can host even a small informal gathering on capital punishment, let me know…word of mouth, education, enthusiasm are
always our greatest allies.
I look forward to seeing you for the Sept. 16 and Sept. 21 events below! Mark your calendars!
In peace,
Colleen
” Confronting Violence with Peace:Murder Victims Families for
Reconciliation Speak Against the Death Penalty ”
About our speaker:
Marie Verzulli didn’t think much about the death penalty until a prosecutor asked if she felt the man accused of murdering her sister should face execution. Verzulli’s sister, Catherine Marsh, 29, was one of eight women murdered by Kendall Francois in a murder spree that shocked a Hudson Valley town. That day in 1998 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Verzulli, 47,
was launched on a path of anger, introspection and healing that led her to become the first Victims’ Outreach Liaison for New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty.
