Dear Friends,
We anticipate 9 poets, and more readers from the audience. We suggest that each reads for 5 minutes, with time between. Janice Manzolillo will act as MC, greeting you and asking you to sign in. She will call on readers in the order of signing. If there is time at the end of the first “round” we can have more readings. Thank you for helping to circulate the invitation. We look forward to meeting you Thursday at 7:30.
Peace,
Gretchen

Dear Poets and Artists,
We thank you for offering to share your works in Poets and Artists for Peace at Westbury Friends Meeting on Thursday, September 6. We have changed the format somewhat, to have the poetry reading in the Community Center where the art work will be set up, and in an atmosphere of coffee house reading.
You can bring your art work [including sculpture and photography] to the Center at any time during Thursday and leave it safely in the Quaker library, second door on the right. Just ask one of the office staff. If possible, could you leave the work(s) up until after the Eyes Wide Open exhibit on Sat. [finished at 6 p.m.]? That would increase the exposure. It will be moved back to the Library during school on Friday.
For the poets, we will have both your original works and others reflecting the diversity of faith traditions and ethnic origins, such as Sufi, Latino, Jewish and African-American. Members of the audience will be encouraged to join you in reading these works.
Light refreshments, tea and coffee will be available throughout the event. We anticipate beginning at 7:30 and ending at 9:00. Again, thank you so much for offering your talents to this project. Please let me know any concerns or questions. [jmhaynes@earthlink.net]
Peace,
Gretchen Haynes
