The Nassau County government, in Long Island, tried an experiment they claimed was to reduce the incidence of drunk driving. They created a “Wall of Shame”, so that as people were stopped and arrested for drunk driving, the photos of those people were posted on line, and the county also encouraged media outlets to post the photos.
A court ruled yesterday against the practice. The Nassau County Executive changed the program to only post photos of people who are convicted. Victory for justice and innocent-until-proven-guilty.a
