Long Island WINS is a public information campaign, driven by the belief that immigration creates incredible opportunities for economic, cultural, and social growth. www.longislandwins.com As immigrants to this country renew the American dream, they improve the quality of life for all of us. In order to foster positive attitudes toward immigrants, we carry out education and outreach to highlight the contributions of immigrants, enhance the public understanding of immigrants and build support for immigration initiatives that benefit all residents of Long Island. In October 2008, Long Island WINS released a report entitled “Strengthening Long Island: The Economic Contributions of Immigrants to Nassau and Suffolk” that concluded that immigrants contribute $10.6 billion to Long Island’s economy.
Kirby Einhorn is the Communications Outreach Director for Long Island Wins. She has traveled throughout Long Island speaking to community groups about the economic contributions of immigrants, the vast benefits of new immigration, and the political realities that have created our immigration policies today.
